We cook where the road grows steeper on its way to the sea. From the terrace: rock, water, sky, and in the evening the sun over the Atlantic. That is why most guests stay longer than they meant to.

The sea decides what there is. The catch of the day is written on the board by the door. One call settles both: what is swimming today, and whether a table is still free.

Alongside the fish there is a small, settled menu: hearty dishes of the kind you know from central Europe, cooked with what the island provides. There is always something vegetarian, and if you eat vegan, just say so when you order. We will arrange it.

The last stretch down to us is steep and narrow. Take it slowly and expect oncoming traffic. There is easy parking up in the village.
Since February 2018
A house that took its time
We opened for the first time on 3 February 2018, after a building period that ran considerably longer than planned. Anyone who builds on an island in the middle of the Atlantic learns patience.
The house was built by Susi’s father. Built with heart and run with heart, and that has not changed since.
Susi has been in the kitchen and at the tables ever since. The two belong together, and both will stay as they are: small and made by hand.
Our guests say it feels like eating at someone's home. There is little better to be said about a restaurant.
In winter the fire is lit in the dining room. Outside the Atlantic is roaring, inside you sit warm behind the glass.
Faia is the local name for the bayberry tree. It grows on every slope around the house, including the one you pass on the way down. Its branch is our emblem, and it gave us our name.
